Main T-Shirt Images Now Display in Gallery

November 24th, 2009 by thomas

A small but probably welcome change to the PCR site: you can now access the full sized shirt/hat/hoody images in the gallery below the product description. This is good for grabbing images directly from our website for posting to your own. Also tweaked: we refreshed the T-shirt image for the new Afterschool Tea Time shirt to better reflect its actual color.

New T-Shirts Posted

Continuing our strategy of watching what anime series and other memes from Japan get popular on Internet sites like YouTube, 4chan and elsewhere then bringing out products that target these fans, we’ve got two new shirts your customers will love.

Our first new shirt is a tribute to some of anime’s most popular characters who are tsundere (pronounced TSOON-deh-reh), a Japanese term which describes female characters that are angry and confrontational one moment then full of love and tenderness the next. It’s a popular archetype seen in such characters as Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, Shana from Shana of the Blazing Eyes and Taiga from Toradora, and is well-known to your customers. Since all of these iconic anime characters are voiced by famous voice actress Rie Kugimiya, we thought we’d do a fun kanji design featuring her best lines, like “Baka! Baka! Baka!” (Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!). The new shirt features complex and beautiful kanji on both the front and back as well as an image of Shana. Designed by Rios, the hip Japanese designer who has a big following on YouTube. Click to view the new shirt.

(A small reminder that all our T-shirts come with professionally printed tags explaining what the messages on the T-shirt mean, so you never have to worry about how to explain the meanings of our shirts to customers.)

Then we’ve got a fun original anime T-shirt for your customers who are fans of the popular Kyoto Animation series K-On!, the story of four high school girls who start a band called Afterschool Tea Time (in Japanese, Hokago Tea Time). A super shirt that references the original Fab Four, The Beatles, while providing your customers with a great design with their favorite characters shown in silhouette.

We’ve been adding other new products to the site, too, such as the new Hachiko “Japanese Soul Dog” T-shirt honoring the most loyal dog in all Japan. Since Richard Gere’s is starring in a major Hollywood film about the Loyal Dog Hachi, too, so the timing is great. (Link to the trailer of the U.S. film is here, it opens in December.) The new Toradora! parody shirt is hot too, as are the shirt celebrating over-the-knee socks and short skirts in anime and awesome warm hoodies that we sell. Which ones do you need more stock of?

PCR Distributing Blogs & RSS Feeds

Remember the PCR Distributing website has received many new features to help you get the information you need for your retail business. Both our websites support RSS feeds, so you can “watch” for new products easily using an RSS reader such as Google Reader and view all new products as soon as they’re posted. (Nearly all modern email programs or web browsers can also be used to subscribe to RSS feeds.) When viewing a product category, click the RSS icon at the top of the page to see the RSS data, which you can save in your RSS viewing system of choice. It’s one of the most useful innovations for overworked businessmen we can think of.

We’ve also created two blogs to allow us to better supply you with information, one for each site. You can find useful information on newly posted products. Since we have so many T-shirts, hoodies and game products in the pipe, we hope you’ll hit our wholesale blog (and will save it in your RSS reader, if you’re using one) so you can keep up with our offerings. We’ll post trends we’ve been noticing, answers to questions we’re hearing a lot and so on. Access the PCRdist blog for information on all T-shirt, manga and game products, or PCRstyle blog for apparel and other “PG” products. If you learn about our new products through our emails or when casually checking the website directly, it’s a good idea to start using some of these new methods for getting product info.

Of course, you don’t have to browse the PCR websites manually: we also have optional PDF-based catalogs listing all of our T-shirt, manga, game and other products. These catalogs are updated automatically when new products are added to the site, so they’ll always be fresh and accurate.

Christmas is in the Air…

Christmas is right around the corner, and we have every reason to believe it will be a great one for all of us. With passion for Japan and anime higher than it’s ever been by fans, we think our products will do great for your retail business this year. What can PCR do for you?

New Shirt: K-On! Parody

November 19th, 2009 by thomas

Still with plenty of time for those Holiday orders, PCR is another kawaii anime T-shirt for your customers: Afterschool Tea Time. It’s a tribute to the cutest anime girl-band ever from the popular anime K-On!, which broke all the sales charts in Japan and is very popular with fans on the Internet. This cool shirt parodies the classic imagery of another famous band (The Beatles) while being an awesome design, showing the four cute members of the band printed in silhouette with the band’s name, The Hokago Tea Time (The After School Tea Time), written below. Designed by Rios. Image (c) J-List.

EDIT: I updated the picture to better reflect the color of the shirt. It’s powder blue and quite nice to look at.

New T-Shirt: Tsundere Forever

November 17th, 2009 by Peter Payne

Don’t look now, but PCR Distributing has another awesome T-shirt for your anime-obsessed customers, and it’s a nice one.

The term tsundere (TSOON-deh-reh) describes female anime characters who are angry and confrontational yet secretly full of tenderness and love inside, and these characters are some of the most complex and interesting in anime today. The genre has really blossomed in recent years with popular characters such as Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, Shana from Shakugan no Shana and Taiga from Toradora, all of whom are voiced by the legendary voice actress Rie Kugimiya. The popularity of her characters gave us the idea of making a T-shirt dedicated to fans of Kugiyama and her tsundere-ism.

This T-shirt is a special tribute to the best characters of this wonderful genre of tsundere-ism, presenting her most famous phrases, including “Baka! Baka! Baka!” (Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!) and “Shut up! And go rot!” On the back of the shirt is printed, in extremely difficult kanji characters, “Kugimiya Virus Hypersensitive Cerebral Corticalitis,” which describes the odd state all tsundere fans are in when she verbally abuses us (ah…). Standard black T-shirt, available in S, M, L, XL and 2XL. Designed by Rios, the hip designer who has a big following on YouTube.

And another new shirt — JAPANESE SOUL DOG

November 10th, 2009 by Peter Payne

The most famous dog in Japan is Hachiko, who waited faithfully for his master to return home at Shibuya Station in Tokyo — waiting even after the master died, which made him a local legend. The statue of Hachi (the ko on the end is a term of endearment) in Shibuya has become a popular tourist destination for Japanese and foreigners alike, who travel from far and wide to take their picture with him. This new T-shirt is an awesome tribute to the “Japanese Soul Dog” that your customers will want to grab when they see it. Features a sleeve logo that says, “Faithful dog Hachiko.” Enjoy the new shirt!

New T-Shirt: Toradora! Parody

November 6th, 2009 by Peter Payne

Posting a new shirt to the PCRdist.com and PCRstyle websites, which is a Toradora! parody that’s proven to be a very popular shirt over the past couple months. We’ve long had a strategy of watching what anime series become popular with the highly wired anime fans, who naturally download the latest anime series as RAW anime files from Japan, or as fansubs. Toradora! is one show that became extremely popular this way, despite the fact that it hasn’t (ahem) been licensed yet. Having a shirt that’s an homage to Taiga Aisaka (the main character in the show, a classic tsundere type, half angry and half full of love) has had our customers squealing with delight. And the “Toradora” parody logo on the back, which is written in the style of famous doujin shop Tora no Ana, is a great gag. Enjoy.

PCR Office Update

October 21st, 2009 by Peter Payne

The staff of PCR continues to get through its Hell Week, while we ship some really big orders for whole companies that are doing their Holiday buying now. (Which is a subtle hint to you by the way — did you get your Holiday order in to PCR yet?) Not only are we printing T-shirts and packing boxes left and right, we’re doing renovations on the office here to enable us to work more efficiently. It’s interesting to try to work while contractors are tearing down walls, laying carpet, and so on.

Here’s a picture of the mess:

Trust us, it will look much better very soon...

Trust us, it will look much better soon. We’ll have more office space and more space to store great products for you.

In other news, the new site is going along swimmingly. Remember, everyone’s password has been moved to the new system so you should be ready to go. You can make wholesale orders through the site of course, or else use it for reference while you make your own PO using whatever system you’re happy with. We’re not picky!

Small Issue with the Site

October 16th, 2009 by Peter Payne

Small issue with the PCR website — it seems that Internet Explorer 8 users are seeing vertical lines instead of product thumbnails. We’re on it and will have this fixed ASAP. In the meantime, please view the PDF catalogs, or else access the site with a different browser, such as Firefox.

Update: problem fixed!
