We’ve been busy around here at PCR, preparing new T-shirt designs and working hard on the new PC dating-sim games we’re trying to get out the door. Happy to have two new shirts for everyone!
First is a tribute to our favorite violent anime girls, which are collectively known in fandom as yandere (yahn-deh-reh), a term which describes a female character who is loving and gentle, then turns extremely violent and jealous to the point of murder. This shirt is a tribute to the best yandere characters in anime, from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni to School Days to Shuffle, featuring famous phrases in kanji and showing a silhouette of Rena with her classic bloody axe.
The text in the background of the design of an amalgamation of different famous quotes from anime shoes, including, Uso da! (”You lie!”) and “I’ll give my body and heart only to you, so don’t look at any other girls besides me!” and “Hahahahaha!!!!” It’s in stock and ready for your order right now!
We love the anime Toradora!, one of the most popular boy-meets-angry-girl stories to come out of Japan in a while. It features a cute tsundere (violent and angry yet tender) female lead role voiced by the legendary Rie Kugimiya, whose kanji tribute T-shirt was our most popular product over the Christmas season. To commemorate 2010’s special status as Year of the Tiger, we’re introducing a cool parody of the Hanshin Tigers logo with the design changed to Tenori Tigers (tenori = “palmtop”). It’s a standard baseball tee, with long sleeves and awesome authentic styling, and the design printed both on the front and the back, which has proven a popular feature with our recent shirts. Also tweaked: we refreshed the T-shirt image for the new Afterschool Tea Time shirt to better reflect its actual color.

The term tsundere (TSOON-deh-reh) describes female anime characters who are angry and confrontational yet secretly full of tenderness and love inside, and these characters are some of the most complex and interesting in anime today. The genre has really blossomed in recent years with popular characters such as Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, Shana from Shakugan no Shana and Taiga from Toradora, all of whom are voiced by the legendary voice actress Rie Kugimiya. The popularity of her characters gave us the idea of making a T-shirt dedicated to fans of Kugiyama and her tsundere-ism.
This T-shirt is a special tribute to the best characters of this wonderful genre of tsundere-ism, presenting her most famous phrases, including “Baka! Baka! Baka!” (Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!) and “Shut up! The most famous dog in Japan is Hachiko, who waited faithfully for his master to return home at Shibuya Station in Tokyo — waiting even after the master died, which made him a local legend. The statue of Hachi (the ko on the end is a term of endearment) in Shibuya has become a popular tourist destination for Japanese and foreigners alike, who travel from far and wide to take their picture with him. This new T-shirt is an awesome tribute to the “Japanese Soul Dog” that your customers will want to grab when they see it. Posting a new shirt to the PCRdist.com and PCRstyle websites, which is a Toradora! parody that’s proven to be a very popular shirt over the past couple months. We’ve long had a strategy of watching what anime series become popular with the highly wired anime fans, who naturally download the latest anime series as RAW anime files from Japan, or as fansubs. Toradora! is one show that became extremely popular this way, despite the fact that it hasn’t (ahem) been licensed yet. Having a shirt that’s an homage to Taiga Aisaka (the main character in the show, a classic tsundere type, half angry and half full of love) has had our customers squealing with delight. And the “Toradora” parody logo on the back, which is written in the style of famous doujin shop Tora no Ana, is a great gag. Enjoy.
